Still looking for new music???

As I mentioned in my previous post, one of my places to check out some new Canadian music is CBC’s Radio 3 podcast. I forgot to mention that I also listen to Radio 3’s sister podcast from Radio-Canada called bandeapart.fm. It has some of the best new independent French music. If you like French music […]

Nokia N800 4.2007 firmware – Problems with maemo-mapper

After upgrading to the latest version of the N800 Internet Tablet OS upgrade, I ran into a problem with one of my favourite applications – maemo-mapper. In case you haven’t seen it in action, maemo-mapper is a map browser for the Maemo platform which is what the Nokia N770 and N800 run. It comes pre-configured […]

Looking for new music??

Maybe I’m getting old but most of the music that I have been hearing lately has been pretty bad. Part of the problem is that most of my new music has been through the radio or tv which as most people know is pretty bad. One shining spot in this however is a CBC podcast […]

Making Fredericton a more livable and bicycle friendly city

I haven’t been able to see all of the details that have been presented but I would like to propose (or vote) for a few suggestions: 1) Bike lanes!!! We need dedicated bike lane on some of […]

Skype for the Nokia N800 is here

Yesterday Nokia released a new Nokia N800 firmware. As previously discussed, this update includes Skype (voice only). It also includes Flash version 9 which opens up a lot of websites to viewing including YouTube. I’ve tried out the echo service with Skype and it seems to work pretty well. We will see how it works […]

JDK 1.6 update 2 released

Sun has just released their update 2 for JDK 1.6. From the release notes the only major change that I can see is the inclusion of JavaDB aka Apache Derby with the JDK. There are also about 180 bugs that have been fixed. I’ve installed it on an XP machine and as promised earlier, webstart […]
