Nokia N800 4.2007 firmware – Problems with maemo-mapper

After upgrading to the latest version of the N800 Internet Tablet OS upgrade, I ran into a problem with one of my favourite applications – maemo-mapper.

In case you haven’t seen it in action, maemo-mapper is a map browser for the Maemo platform which is what the Nokia N770 and N800 run. It comes pre-configured for OpenStreetMap, but (despite some gray legal areas), you can integrate and use Google Maps, Virtual Earth, or even your own framework.

After upgrading to the latest firmware, trying to save a map would crash maemo-mapper. Upgrading to the recently released 1.4.7, didn’t help matters. I was going to file a bug but found somebody had beat me to it. I did add my input to confirm that the suggested workaround (route -> clear) worked for me.
